Why Akshara Vidyalay

The first eight years of a child’s life are widely accepted as most critical experiences. In these formative years, children learn many of the skills they’ll need to function in society, from throwing a ball to tying their shoelaces. The first eight years of a child’s life also shapes who they will be as a person. In these years, a child’s experiences and relationships help them form millions of brain connections that will create pathways for how they behave throughout their lives. At no other time in a human’s life does the brain form as many connections as it does in the first eight years.

Experiences and relationships are key to how a child develops, and in the first eight years a lot of learning is achieved through play. And these first eight years should go smoothly. For this, we at AV, are going to let the children learn using a specially developed brain-based learning methodology.

If there are any difficulties in learning in these first eight years, then the obstacle in further education increases. And that is why we are going to focus on concept building of children and we will be using lots of tools and materials for it.

It is also important that children should be provided emotionally supportive and enabling environment to develop safe and secure relationships with teachers. Children need to feel free to explore, express andlearn. At AV, we will provide such an environment for sure.

“What I hear, I forget. What I see, I remember. What I do, I understand.”

When it comes to learning, hearing is not as good as seeing, seeing is not as good as experience, and true learning is only evident when experience produces an action. Akshara Vidyalay will have a special curriculum which will support learning based on such experiences.

The seating arrangements, the timetable, annual planning will all be in accordance with the recommendations of brain based studies.

At an early age children learn many languages rapidly so there will be special efforts taken to introduce English language. Children will learn in their own Marathi language but their English language skills will be good as well.
